About Me
Hi, I’m Ishan Chawla, a Counselling Psychologist.
Life can feel confusing, overwhelming, or hard to make sense of. Sometimes there’s a clear reason, and sometimes you just know something doesn’t feel right. Therapy can give you a space to slow down and understand yourself a little better.

My approach is person-centred. You are the expert on your own life. My role isn’t to tell you how to live it, but to help you explore your experiences, understand what matters to you, and find a way forward that feels right.
I value a space where you can speak openly, without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out. I also pay attention to how our experiences, relationships, identities and environments shape us, and I’ll never rush you into difficult territory.
I hope therapy helps you build a deeper relationship with yourself, reconnect with your values, and work towards a life that feels meaningful to you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin.
We can start with just a conversation.

How Therapy Works
Therapy isn’t about fixing who you are.
It’s a collaborative space to explore your thoughts, emotions and relationships with someone who listens and helps you make sense of them. It looks different for everyone. Progress isn’t always linear, and meaningful change takes time.
What might therapy look like?
Understanding your experiences
Exploring what’s been happening and what’s hard to put into words.
Recognising patterns
Noticing the familiar ways you respond, and what they mean for you.
Making space for difficult emotions
Understanding your feelings rather than pushing them away.
Connecting with what matters
Exploring your values, needs and boundaries to guide your choices.
Finding ways forward
Practical strategies and new perspectives that feel realistic to you.
Session flow
Your first session doesn’t have to be perfect. You don’t need to prepare anything.
01 · Reaching out
Message me on WhatsApp or email. Tell me what brings you here and ask any questions.
02 · A free introductory call
A free 15-minute call to discuss your concerns, understand how I work and see if we’re a good fit. It isn’t a therapy session or a commitment.
03 · Scheduling
If you’d like to proceed, we’ll find a time that works. Sessions are online and last 60 minutes.
04 · Your first session
We’ll explore what brought you here and what you hope for. Share as much or as little as you like. There’s no need to cover everything at once.
05 · Continuing the process
We’ll keep exploring and recognising patterns, and check in regularly on what’s useful and what you need.
Before your session, try to find a quiet, private space with a stable internet connection. It’s fine to arrive with uncertainty or questions.
Policies
Session duration
Each session lasts 60 minutes, online over Google Meet.
Fees and payments
Fees and payment details are shared with you directly before your session is scheduled. Payments are made online.
Scheduling
Reach out on WhatsApp or email and we’ll find a time that suits us both.
Cancellations and rescheduling
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice, so the time can be offered to someone else. If something unexpected comes up, let me know as soon as possible.
Confidentiality and privacy
What you share is treated with care and confidentiality, in line with professional ethical standards. There are legal and ethical limits, such as serious safety concerns or where disclosure is required or permitted by law. We can discuss these where appropriate.
Since sessions are online, please choose a private space where others can’t overhear.
A collaborative process
Ask questions and tell me if something doesn’t feel right or useful. We can talk about it openly. Questions about fees, scheduling or confidentiality are welcome before you book.
FAQs
Do I need a specific problem to start?
No. You can come with something specific or simply want to understand yourself better. You don’t need a diagnosis.
What if I don’t know what to say?
That’s completely okay. We can take our time, and I’ll guide the conversation where needed. Silence and uncertainty are fine.
How many sessions will I need?
There’s no set number. It depends on your concerns and goals. We’ll review your progress together as we go.
Are our sessions confidential?
Yes, with certain legal and ethical limits, mainly around serious safety concerns. We can talk through what those mean for our work.
Can I speak in Hindi?
Yes. Sessions are available in English and Hindi, whichever feels more comfortable.
What if I feel nervous about starting?
That’s understandable. You don’t have to feel comfortable straight away or share everything at once. We’ll go at a pace that feels manageable.
See more questions
Is therapy just talking about my problems?
Talking is a big part of it, but we might also explore patterns, consider new perspectives, or discuss practical ways to handle difficult situations, depending on what’s useful to you.
Will you tell me what to do?
No. I help you understand your experiences and explore your options so you can make choices that feel right for you. We can discuss practical strategies when relevant.
What happens in the free introductory call?
We briefly talk about what brings you here, you ask questions, and we see if we’re a good fit. There’s no obligation to book.
Are online sessions effective?
Online therapy can be a useful way to get support without travelling. Whether it suits you depends on your needs and preferences, and we can talk about it in our first conversation.
Is everything I share going to be analysed?
No. Therapy isn’t about judging or scrutinising you. You can speak naturally, ask questions, or tell me when something doesn’t resonate.
How do I book my first session?
Message me on WhatsApp or email. If you’d like to proceed, we’ll find a time and schedule it.
Thinking about starting therapy?
Reaching out can feel like a big step. You don’t need the right words. We can start with a simple conversation.
